Long Beach Economic Development Efforts To Be Led By Mike Conway

February 21, 2013 - Long Beach Public Works Director Mike Conway has been named by City Manager Pat West to head up the city’s economic development efforts.

In a statement issued earlier today, West said that effective March 1 Conway is the city’s business and property development director “to ensure that new and existing businesses have a central point of contact who can help them access city services, as well as guide businesses through the planning and permitting process."

Conway, who has several years of real estate experience both with the city and with the private sector, is also going to “develop and market publicly held properties in Long Beach,” West added. “With the dissolution of redevelopment, the city is expected to gain access to over 225 parcels representing over 80 assembled sites that will need to be developed over the next several years.”

West named City Engineer Ara Maolyan to serve as interim director of public works.
