The Stave Wine And Beer Bar Opens On The Promenade

Stave Bar Long Beach

November 20, 2012 – The Stave, an international wine and beer bar with a delicatessen menu, opened October 6 in Downtown Long Beach. The restaurant and bar, located at 170 The Promenade North at the corner of Broadway and The Promenade, is owned by partners Gary Muir, Natalie Van Waardenburg and John Murawski. The Stave gets its name from the term “stave,” which refers to the oak slats used to make wine and beer barrels. According to The Stave’s website, “The Stave is indoor and outdoor – front and center is a social 60-foot angled wood bar, surrounding a dual compartment walk-in refrigerator – direct pour draft beers in one, cheese wheels and cured meat logs in the other. Black vinyl booths and drink rails run around the perimeter of the room that features two rollup doors – one street facing, the other opening onto an expansive patio that hosts two bar-height firepits encased by communal stone tables.” The Stave is open 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 2 a.m. Sunday.
