December 18, 2012 – Four U.S. Merchant Marine Academy midshipmen were recently honored with scholarships from the Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship fund, which helps support the senior year at the academy. Crowley Marine Recruiter Jenny Terpenning presented (from right to left) cadets Joshua Beck, William Courtney, Michael Pluhowski and Kevan Stoeckler with the scholarships during the 2012 Containerization and Intermodal Institute (Connie Award) lunch held in Newark, New Jersey. Crowley, which has operations in the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, has awarded more than 275 students from USMMA, other maritime academies and, select institutions throughout the country with scholarships since 1984, according to a company statement.
