April 9, 2013 – Located at 222 E. Broadway in Downtown Long Beach, Pussy & Pooch Pethouse and Pawbar”s newest location is a streamlined version of its other two stores in Belmont Shore and Downtown Los Angeles. Co-owners Rob Gaudio and Janene Zakrajsek opened the first of the pet lifestyle boutiques in L.A. in 2007. “It was part of the growth and resurgence downtown,” Gaudio told the Business Journal. “When we looked at Downtown Long Beach, we saw the same opportunity that we noticed in Downtown L.A. When we started in Downtown L.A., it was all residential properties and entertainment with very little services and amenities. We definitely stood out in terms of what we were offering. That helped snowball other retailers to come in and fill the holes in the area. We are hoping it will do the same for Long Beach.” The new Pussy & Pooch location offers streamlined services with a focus on supplies and food, including the company’s signature, in-store pet café called Pawbar. Plans are for the two Long Beach locations to work together via referrals on item selection and grooming services, Gaudio said. “We’re very excited to be part of the community and help it grow,” he added. “We want to be a resource not only for the pet owners but to help attract other retailers to create more activity.” The downtown location is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday toThursday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
