May 7, 2013 – When music store World of Strings closed, three of its employees banded together to keep their music store dreams alive. Chris Baird, Brian Stewart and Guillermo Rios opened Long Beach Guitar Repair on April 30 at 2930 E. 7th St., about a mile east of the former World of Strings location. The owners repair and restore all guitars – electric, acoustic, classical and flamenco – as well as basses, mandolins, banjos, violins, violas, cellos and bows. They also offer guitar lessons and accessories, strings, picks, straps, cables and cases. Long Beach Guitar Repair will host a grand opening event on May 18 and will soon begin selling guitars. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 562/621-9000 or visit www.longbeachguitarrepair.com. Pictured, from left, are Baird, Stewart and Rios.
