Corazonas Long Beach

October 8, 2013 – Long Beach-based Corazonas Foods was named “fan favorite” in the best healthy food category of QVC’s 2013 Choice Food Awards on September 11. “For an emerging, privately owned brand like Corazonas, it was an honor just to be nominated for the coveted award, especially against the established companies that we shared the category with,” Corazonas CEO Jeff Goh said in a statement. Corazonas has been available through QVC, a home shopping company, since 2011. The special ingredient in Corazonas’ snack foods is plant sterol, which the company says has been proven by studies to lower cholesterol. The company’s name, which is closely related to the Spanish word for “hearts,” reflects its dedication to lowering cholesterol and improving heart health. Corazonas also announced in September that it is sponsoring seven Heart & Stroke Walks by the Los Angeles Division of the American Heart Association this fall. Through the walks, Corazonas plans to distribute more than 100,000 snack samples and educate locals about how plant sterols aid heart health. “We are deeply grateful to Corazonas Foods for embracing the American Heart Association’s mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, through their support of this year’s Heart & Stroke Walks,” Tammy Rocker, senior vice president of American Heart Association Southern California, said in a statement.
