Roasted Notz Long Beach

November 19, 2013 – Randy Woodside, a master lighting technician who has worked on Hollywood blockbusters “Argo,” “We Bought A Zoo” and “Almost Famous,” opened his own coffeehouse at 3044 E. 4th St. on November 10. The shop, called Roasted Notz Caffeine Stop, serves sandwiches and soups made in-house from scratch, as well as bagels, sweets from local bakers, and, of course, coffee. A piano in the shop is open for anyone to play, and a turntable setup features vintage LPs from nearby record store Dizzy on Vinyl. According to a statement, Woodside wanted to create “a pub culture around coffee, a place where people can gather peacefully to share ideas and express themselves through music.” A coffee delivery service via bicycle is also available to neighborhood residents. Roasted Notz is open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. For more information, call 562/434-4346. Pictured, from left, are Woodside, barista Tiffany Davy and manager Marie Purdy.
