Long Beach Police Graduation

December 17, 2013 – Chief of Police Jim McDonnell introduced the graduates of Academy Class #86 during December 5 ceremonies at the Long Beach Terrace Theater. It marked the first academy class in four and a half years and included 40 new members of the Long Beach Police Department and two Modesto Police Department recruits. The class completed more than 27 weeks of “intense academic, physical and practical training in areas such as: patrol procedures and law enforcement tactics; firearms training, weaponless defense; criminal law; vehicle operations; community oriented public safety; and cultural diversity/human relations training. Class 86 includes several bilingual recruits who speak Spanish, Khmer, German, Chinese, Japanese and Arabic. The graduating class members are, in alphabetical order: Sean Arndt, Daniel Arriola, Joseph Balderian, Joel Casillas, Brian Caton, Sara Chilson, Eric Cornell, Brian Craney, Douglas Donnenfield, Larry Fleet, Michael Gatliff, Travis Harris, Kevin Johansen, Joshua Kessler, Sokhoeun Kim, Brian Komori, Leonard Lopez, Ryan MacCaskey, Chad Manis, James Martin, Eric McGowan, Madison Moss, Kelsey Myers, Ruben Navarro, Edwin Oak, Ernesto Olmos, Jesenia Oropeza, Kyle Piper, Gavin Purdy, James Raff, Carlos Sandoval, Matthew Sidders, Wilmer Soriano, Eric Thai, Justin Van Dyk, Guadalupe Villescas, Jason Wilcoxen, Bryant Yuriar, Bach Zavala and Amer Zeidan.
