February 14 – On February 1, DG Boxing opened its second Long Beach location at 754 Pine Ave. Owner Anthony Skalberg, whose training at DG Boxing’s flagship location kept the then 13-year-old teenager focused and disciplined outside of the turbulent inner city environment in which he was raised, opened the gym with the hopes of helping to enrich his community. “I’m very excited to open another DG [Boxing] location in Long Beach,” Skalberg (pictured without boxing gloves, with trainer John Crispo) said in a statement. “I’m a local guy who grew up in a working class family with very little income; I feel I am now in a position where I can help the neighborhood kids as DG helped me previously.” The gym offers both group lessons and one-on-one private training sessions for every athletic level, whether you are a beginning boxer or a more experienced fighter.
