One World Trade Center Long Beach: Oakwood Worldwide Moving Its Corporate Headquarters; California Resource Corporation Signs Big Lease
In December, Los Angeles-based corporate housing provider Oakwood Worldwide finalized a lease agreement for 19,000 square feet of office space at One World Trade Center (WTC) in Downtown Long Beach. The company is relocating its corporate headquarters from Los Angeles to Long Beach midyear, according to a WTC spokesperson. Also at WTC, oil firm California Resource Corporation finalized a lease for 72,000 square feet on five floors, to be occupied when the company vacates the Landmark Square office building later this year. Specialty’s Cafe signed a new 3,500-square-foot lease in December and plans for an April opening in WTC’s courtyard plaza. Lastly, two law firms, Ford Walker Haggerty and Behar, and the Law Offices of Garcia & Artigliere, renewed and expanded their leases. City Election Dates To Change In 2020
Last night, the Long Beach City Council voted unanimously to change the dates of the city’s elections to coincide with statewide election dates. The change was made due to State Senate Bill 415, which requires cities to make their elections concurrent with the state’s if their voter turnout has equaled 25% less than the average statewide turnout in California’s past four general elections. Long Beach’s primary and general elections will occur in March and November of even-numbered years beginning in 2020. Instead of the previous two months between a primary and runoff election, such as occurred last year in the 5th and 7th City Council Districts, Long Beach voters will face eight months of campaigning prior to deciding a winner.

Engineering Company P2S Announces New Principals
P2S Inc., a Long Beach-based company that offers engineering, commissioning and construction management services, announced three promotions today. Travis Taylor, director of project management for P2S, is being promoted to principal. Nathan Ho, engineering group leader, and Jesse Urquidi, director of project development, were both named as associate principals.
